SAKpicks

A few years ago I picked up a new hobby, lockpicking. As obscure as it may seem, it’s completely harmless and I actually stumbled on it by accident but it flared up my interest in locks and lock sport.
Anyway, fast forward a couple of years and I’m a mediocre picker with a bunch of picks at my disposal. Lockpicking has saved me in a number of occasions, like when I forgot my trailer keys on a holiday. All my stuff was in the back but I couldn’t reach it. But I could.

Anyway, long story short. Picks are handy, the skill is handy. It’s not always practical to carry a complete set of picks. Then the thought hit me. I carry a SAK all the time, is it possible to combine the two?
With mini and micro picks available it should be possible to make tiny, but useful picks.

This is version one, and after a small modification version two.

In version one the pick and wrench sit in the T&T (Toothpick and Tweezer) slots.
The pick has a rounded end to look like the Tweezer end, the tensionbar has an angular flat tip to function as a tension bar. It does not look very nice and it’s obvious that there is something else in place of the Toothpick.

This setup takes up both slots. I can live with missing the Toothpick, but the Tweezers will be missed. This also means that the pick and tensionwrench have to be bent slightly in order to prevent them from falling out.

However, by combining the two they take up only one spot. I altered the shape of the pick and stacked the tensionwrench on top of it. now they both sit flush and it looks way better. I’m going to make a second pair where the tensionwrench sits under the rounded end of the pick to make it seem like one tool when it’s stored in the scales.
